SERMON TOPICS AND NOTES

Right Thinking Produces Right Living

Basic Concept: As a man thinks in his heart, so is he (Prov. 23:7)
Thoughts: We are instructed on what to think on according to Phil. 4:8. We get into trouble when we start thinking outside of these things.  Jn. 5:39 tells us to search the scriptures.  When we read and meditate on the Word of God it causes us to think better because we are filling our minds with truth. The Word becomes a part of of us.  This is what changes us. Change is a process.  Therefore the continual planting of the word deep within our hearts will keep us from sinning against God with our thoughts.

Pursuing God in 2014

On January 19th, the Men and Women's Ministries each began bible studies entitled "A Man After God's Own Heart" by Jim George and "A Woman After God's Own Heart" by Elizabeth George.  Since the first meeting, we have heard testimony upon testimony, seen an increased hunger for God's presence, and lives literally being transformed from the wisdom and insight taught in these lessons and that which is shared during class discussions.  The fresh revelations of God's character, nature, desires for us as His children are being made known.  Our congregation is becoming increasingly aware of the fact that God is a God who wants to spend time with His children and who desires to give good gifts to us.  This awareness has changed the way we talk, think, pray, and make daily decisions. We have that hunger and thirst for God that is mentioned in the word.  Because of this, we are experiencing God's presence in our services in such an exhilarating manner, that there is a deep cry that comes from within ushering a closeness that can't be explained.  The immediate cry of our church is "God we want to see your glory." We realize that we will get to the point that instead of us pursuing God, He will begin to pursue us.  We will settle for nothing less than what God has ordained.  We expect the blessings, favor and hand of God to be upon our church.  Out of the shadows and into the divine life, the blessed, life, the preferred life - designed and orchestrated in the mind and heart of God to be demonstrated through the Spirit of God.  Many of you reading this are as we were, tired of church as usual, sensing that there was something more but not knowing what it was or how to even obtain it.  Let me assure you, there is more and it is found in spending time at the Master's feet, forsaking all to live a life that glorifies our Heavenly Father.

Seeking God for A Change In Your Life

Four areas to focus on if you want a change in your life (Mark 11:24)

1. Desiring the change. This means having a deep hunger for God i.e. a heart hunger.  This desire/hunger must be consistently and persistently chasing God. It's when you are determined to change the atmosphere around you. Remember it's not what you say, it's what you do.
2. Praying for the change: Change will not take place until you do something to make it happen, prayer makes it happen.  Prayer is the main ingredient , the delivery driver.
3. Believing that change is taking place: God does not require us to have great faith, but we must have faith in the great God that we serve.
4. Receiving the change: This involves speaking the word to our problems or situations.  Consider the request as being a completed action; wait on the manifestation from God.  Be still and know that God is God.

Returning To The Reverence

John 4:23-24 AMP 23 A time will come, however, indeed it is already here, when the true (genuine) worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth (reality); for the Father is seeking just such people as these as His worshipers. 24 God is a Spirit (a spiritual Being) and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth (reality).

Reverence* A feeling or attitude of deep respect, honor, esteem, to consider or treat with profound awe and respect and often love, venerate, an act showing respect, especially a bow or curtsy, worship, admiration, astonishment, amazement, to hold in high regard.

I ask this question, where have we gone wrong in the House of God that has brought about such non reverence to God? We live in times where God is sometimes respected but seldom revered. People ponder over the widespread destructions from hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamis etc. but disregard the supernatural power of God demonstrated in scriptures. We let our feelings and life’s circumstances dictate and determine our drive or lack thereof instead of believing and walking by faith. Hopelessness has found its way into many of the hearts of the most dedicated believers. We practice religion and forego the intimate relationship that God desires to have with each of His children. All of these facts are indications of how we have lost reverence to God Almighty.
